
Getting Your Husky HyPET Heating Just Right
If you’ve spent any time running high-speed PET blowing, you know the real headache is usually the heating phase. It’s a delicate balance. You need the heat to get deep into the center of the preform wall, but you don’t want to scorch the surface in the process. That’s exactly why we built our replacement lamps.
The trick to deep heating
Here’s the thing: most standard lamps waste a lot of energy just hitting the surface. It’s like trying to warm up a frozen steak with a blowtorch—the outside burns before the middle even thaws. We changed the spectral output of our quartz tubes. By shifting the emission curve toward the medium-to-long wave infrared spectrum, the heat actuallysoaks throughthe PET instead of just bouncing off. And because HyPET systems run hard, we used high-purity quartz. When you’re pushing your machine at full tilt, these lamps take a beating. They need to handle that intense heat density without warping or just giving up on you.
Fitting them in
You don’t need to rewire your whole floor. These are simple drop-in replacements. We matched the footprint of the original Husky gear perfectly. That way, the heat stays focused exactly where it needs to be. Whether you’re using R7s or Sk15 connectors, we’ve got the wiring sorted to match your voltage and wattage. One quick heads-up on power. Higher wattage means faster cycles, which is great, but it puts more stress on your power supply. Just double-check your electrical panels and cabling. You don’t want to be tripping breakers right in the middle of a peak production run.
What happens on the floor
Once these are in, those annoying “cold spots” in thick-walled preforms pretty much disappear. You get a uniform temperature across the whole body. The result? Fewer rejects and bottles that actually hold their shape. Just a tip: since these lamps push more heat into the material, your oven is going to get hotter. Make sure your cooling blowers are clean and humming along. If they’re clogged, you’ll run into issues with preforms sticking or degassing.
