
Stop Fighting With Your Blow Molder Lamps
If you’ve ever tried swapping out heating lamps on a PET line, you know the headache. You move from an old SBO system to a newer Matrix series, and suddenly nothing fits quite right. It’s frustrating. You spend more time fiddling with the hardware than actually running the machine. That’s why we built our replacement lamps to just… work. No hacks, no machine mods, and no swearing at the equipment. They’re designed to be true drop-in replacements across the whole Sidel range. The “Perfect Fit” Obsession Here’s the thing: in this business, a couple of millimeters is the difference between a smooth run and a disaster. If a lamp doesn’t sit perfectly in the reflector, you get hot spots or, worse, you put weird mechanical stress on the sockets. We keep our tolerances incredibly tight on the tube length and end-caps. Plus, we use high-voltage quartz glass. Why? Because these things take a beating with constant thermal cycling in high-speed lines, and they need to hold up. Getting the Heat Right We use short-wave infrared tech so the heat actually sinks into the PET wall fast. We’ve also tuned the wattage and voltage to play nice with your existing power supply. But a quick tip: if you’re running high-wattage tubes for those thick-walled preforms, your electrical contacts are going to feel the strain.**Check your sockets.**If there’s carbon buildup in there, your ends are going to burn out way too soon. Give them a good clean first. Swap and Go We spent a lot of time on the connector interface. Whether you’re running a classic SBO or the latest Matrix setup, the electrical resistance and dimensions are a mirror image of the originals. You can swap them out and get back to work without having to mess around with the oven’s PID controllers. One last thing. A brand new lamp is great, but it can’t do everything. If your reflector is pitted or dirty, you’re wasting energy. While you’ve got the machine open for the swap, give those reflectors a scrub. You’ll get way more punch out of the infrared output and your cycle times will thank you.
