
Getting Your Rotary Blow Molding Up to Speed
In high-speed PET production, everything happens in a blink. The time it takes for a preform to go from the oven to the blow mold is measured in milliseconds. If your lamps are lagging, your whole line suffers. That’s why we built our replacement lamps for SIDEL SBO Series 2 and SACMI rotary systems. We wanted to kill that annoying lag you usually deal with during start-ups or when you’re tweaking the cycle.
Getting to Temp, Fast
Here is the thing: to hit the right temperature without overshooting it, you have to get the physics right. We looked closely at the thermal mass of the filament and how the quartz envelope handles heat. We use a specific tungsten halogen gas mix that lets the lamp ramp up almost instantly. It means you aren’t standing around idling the machine, staring at a clock, waiting for the oven to finally stabilize. You just get to work.
No Rewiring, No Headaches
These are simple drop-in replacements. We matched the exact footprint and electrical load of the OEM specs. Why? Because the last thing you want to do is rewire your controllers just to change a bulb. We also used high-purity quartz glass. It’s tough. It resists that crystallization that usually happens when lamps are constantly heating up and cooling down. And for the SACMI rotary machines, we reinforced the end-caps. Those machines vibrate—a lot. If an electrode shifts even a tiny bit, your heat distribution goes wonky. That leads to thin spots in your bottle walls, and nobody wants that.
A Quick Tip from the Shop Floor
High-wattage IR lamps put out a massive amount of heat. It speeds up your cycle, sure, but it also puts a lot of pressure on your oven’s ventilation. If your cooling blowers are clogged or just can’t keep up, the ambient heat builds up and eats away at the life of your lamps. **Do yourself a favor:**check your airflow filters every single time you swap out a burnt-out tube. It’s a small habit that keeps your lamps running way longer.
